This is the right front door of a 2007 Subaru Impreza.
I started by prying the mirror cover from
the top of the door panel.
I used a tack
puller for a prying tool.
This
cover was held on by a suction cup system.
At this point the side view mirror mounting
bolts are exposed, but the wire connector is
under the door panel.
Using a
small screwdriver, I
opened the cover at the bottom of the door
pull.
Then I
was able to remove the Phillips screw from
the bottom of the pull handle cover.
I pried up on
the pull handle cover. I started at the rear
and worked forward until the cover was free.
Next I
removed the wires from the switches by
pressing on the release tab on each plastic
connector.
The
switch panel assembly was completely removed.
Then I
start the tedious job of removing the
surround cover around inside handle
assembly.
With a
small screwdriver I started prying
on the edge of the surround cover. First I
gently pried
at the top above the lock lever. Once I
got my fingertips under the
cover, I pried below the lever.
Next I
gently pried on the forward area of the surround cover
until the snap clip released.

cover.
With a
rigid putty knife I pried between
the plastic panel and metal door shell to
release the snap clips.
Then I
pulled the plastic panel outward and upward over
the upper lip of the door.

If
I was removing the side view mirror, I would
disconnect this electrical connector (red
arrow) for the electric mirror.

the surround cover from around the inside door

With
a small screwdriver, I opened the cover to
expose the Phillips screw at the bottom of
the pull handle.
Then I
pried on the forward area of the plastic
trim to release the snap
clip.
Next I
pressed on the tab on the wire harness and
pulled the connector from the switch.
I found a
screw clip at the upper back end of the
panel. This clip is soft plastic.
I
gently unscrewed the inner part of the clip
and held the outer part stationary. Then
I pulled the entire clip out.

Then with
a rigid putty knife I pried the
plastic door panel away
from metal door shell.
There were several
snap-clips around the perimeter of the door
panel.
Next I
pull upward and outward over the top lip of
the metal door shell.
