Removing Door Panels On A 1995 Nissan Maxima

Gaining Access To Repair Power Windows, Door Locks, Side Mirrors and More.

(Covers Model Years 1995 to 1999)

Various screws and plastic trim parts are removed and then the door panel is pried away. Electrical connectors are disconnected to separate the panel from the door.

Start:

Removing the door panel from this 1995 Nissan Maxima required taking out three mounting screws (red arrows) and three accessories (green arrows).

Note: To remove the side view mirror, the door panel has to be removed, because the wire connectors and a hidden bolt are behind the door panel.

At the bottom of the inside door pull handle I used a small flat screwdriver removed the screw cover.

I then used a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw from the bottom of the pull handle cup.

With a tip of the small flat screwdriver I carefully lifted up the cup and removed it.

I removed the two Phillips screws from the bottom of the plastic door panel.

Remove cover from inside latch handle, 1995 Nissan Maxima.

I used a tack puller to pry off the inside door handle trim cover, then I maneuvered the cover from the handle.

Remove window switch from door panel, 1995 Nissan Maxima.

I pushed in with the tack puller and pried up on the front area of window switch.

Then using the small flat screwdriver I pressed in the wire connector lock tab and pulled it out of the window switch.

The red arrow points to the spring clip that needed to be pushed in and pried up.

Remove cover of interior door light, 1995 Nissan Maxima.

I pried the cover off of the door panel interior lamp using a small screwdriver.

Then I unscrewed the two Phillips screws used to attach the plastic lamp base to the panel.

I pressed in on the lock tab of the wire connector and separated it from the lamp.

Prying door panel to release snap clips,l 1995 Nissan Maxima.

I used a rigid putty knife and pried behind the plastic door panel to release the snap clips from the metal door frame.

When all the snap clips were releases, I pulled the plastic panel outward slightly and pushed upwards to remove the panel from the metal door frame.

But the door panel was still connected by one wire harness.

Using a flat screwdriver I pressed in on the wire connector lock tab and pulled the connector out of the trunk lock switch.

Removing The Side View Mirror:

I pried at the top of side view mirror cover (red arrow) with a tack puller and released the snap clip.

Then I used a 10mm socket to remove the bolt at the bottom of the cover (arrow).

I pulled the dust cover back to disconnect the side view mirror wiring.

I used a small flat screwdriver to press in the connector lock tabs, then I pulled the wire connectors apart.

Using a 10mm socket, I removed three bolts from the side view mirror to detach it from the metal door frame.

Caution: Have someone hold the side view mirror... if it falls it can cause damage to the outside painted panel.
